If an industrial wax melter is not an option, other methods of melting wax for candle making can include using a double boiler, a crock pot, or an electric frying pan. To use a double boiler, place the wax in the top of the boiler and fill the lower boiler with boiling water. Be sure to keep the water below boiling point to prevent it from bubbling up and spilling into the wax. When using a crock pot or electric frying pan, heat it up and add pieces of the wax to it. Stir regularly during melting. Using these methods is slower than a wax melter because of reduced surface area contact but still provide a way to melt wax sufficiently for candle making.
