Making Lavender Beeswax Candles

## Making Lavender Beeswax Candles
Making your own candles is a fun and therapeutic DIY project, and lavender beeswax candles are among the easiest and most satisfying of all. Rich in calming scent and warm light, beeswax candles are all-natural, long-burning and give off a pleasing glow. Plus, the therapeutic powers of lavender infuse the home with an even greater sense of peace and tranquility. Here’s what you need to craft your very own homemade lavender beeswax candles.

### Supplies Needed
* **Beeswax Sheets** – You’ll need to buy beeswax sheets for this project, as opposed to beeswax blocks, which melts at a higher temperature. We recommend *100% natural, unbleached beeswax sheets that are specifically designed for making candles*.

* **Cotton Candle Core and Wick Assembly** – Most beeswax sheet packaging includes a 100% cotton core and wick assembly that is designed to fit tightly into the sheet.

* **Essential Oils** – For a fragrant candle, you’ll need essential oils. Lavender is a popular scent, but feel free to mix and match.

* **Ribbon** – Finally, you’ll need ribbon to tie around the finished candle.

### Steps for Making Lavender Beeswax Candles
1. Gather your supplies. Make sure you have all the items listed above.
2. Measure the size of your candle. Decide how large or small you’d like your candle to be. Lengthwise, you’ll need at least twice the length of the wick assembly.
3. Cut a sheet of beeswax. Measure the size of candle you need and cut a sheet of beeswax from the roll. It should be twice the length of your wick assembly.
4. Place the wick assembly. Take the wick assembly, cut off the top so that it’s about ¾” in length, and place it in the center of the beeswax sheet.
5. Fold the beeswax over the wick assembly. Take the longer side of the beeswax sheet, fold it over the wick assembly and press down the folded-over edge to secure it.
6. Add ribbons. For decorative purposes, tie a ribbon around the finished candle.
7. Add essential oils. Grab the essential oils of your choice and drip the oil onto the candles. Make sure you don’t saturate the candles, as this can cause them to catch fire.
